Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 16th June 2025
Welcome to Ka Law Piano Tuition (“we”, “us”, “our”). These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our services, including piano lessons, workshops, and any related offerings. By enrolling in any of our services, you agree to comply with these terms and conditions.
1. General Information
1.1 Studio Details
Ka Law Piano Tuition is a piano studio offering private and group piano lessons. Located at 641 Ferry Road, we provide music education for students of all ages and skill levels.
1.2 Eligibility
Students of all ages and skill levels are welcome to enroll in our lessons. For minor students, a parent or guardian must sign the enrollment contract and assume responsibility for payments and attendance.
2. Enrollment and Scheduling
2.1 Enrollment
To begin lessons, students must complete the registration form and agree to these Terms and Conditions. Enrollment is confirmed upon receipt of the first lesson payment or deposit.
2.2 Scheduling
Lesson schedules are subject to availability and will be agreed upon at the time of enrollment.
2.3 Lesson Duration
Each lesson lasts for the agreed time, either 30, 45 or 60 minutes.
2.4 Lesson Frequency
Lessons are scheduled weekly. Term dates dictate lesson weeks, following Edinburgh Council term dates, not observing bank and public holidays and in-service days. Term dates are noted on every invoice.
3. Payments and Fees
3.1 Lesson Fees
Lesson fees are charged based on £20/30minutes, £30/45minutes, £40/60minutes, in blocks of 5 or 10 lessons, and are outlined at the time of enrollment. Invoices are issued one week before lesson block starts.
3.2 Payment Methods
We accept payments via bank transfer or cash. Payments are due before the lesson block start date as stated on the invoice.
3.3 Late Payments
A late fee of £20 will apply to any payment not received within 7 days after the due date. If payment is not received after 14 days, lessons will be suspended until payment is made.
3.4 Refunds and Cancellations
Payments are non-refundable. In case of cancellation, at least 24 hour notice is required. No refunds will be issued for missed or cancelled lessons.
4. Cancellations and Rescheduling
4.1 Student Cancellations
If a student needs to cancel a lesson, a minimum of 24 hours notice is required. A make-up lesson is offered if minimum 24 hours notice is provided. Make-up lessons are offered upon request, if there is availability. Ka Law Piano Tuition will do their best to provide another day and time to make up for the cancelled lesson. Failure to provide adequate notice will result in no rescheduling option.
4.2 Teacher Cancellations
In the event that a teacher must cancel a lesson, Ka Law Piano Tuition will provide a rescheduled lesson time or a lesson credit for the cancelled session.
4.3 Missed Lessons
Missed lessons will not be refunded or credited. Missed lessons will also not be offered make-up lessons.
5. Student Responsibilities
5.1 Practice Expectations
Students are encouraged to practice regularly to ensure steady progress. While we understand that practice schedules may vary, consistency is key to improvement.
5.2 Punctuality
Students should arrive on time for their lessons. Late arrivals will not be granted extra time at the end of the lesson, and the full lesson fee will apply.
5.3 Studio Etiquette
Students must behave respectfully and maintain a positive learning environment. Any disruptive behavior may result in termination of lessons without refund.
6. Teacher Responsibilities
6.1 Lesson Preparation
Teachers will come prepared for each lesson with tailored instruction based on the student’s level and progress. We strive to create a motivating and supportive environment for all students.
6.2 Feedback
Teachers will provide constructive feedback and track the student’s progress throughout their learning journey. Parents or guardians may request progress reports upon request.
7. Privacy and Data Protection
7.1 Confidentiality
We respect your privacy. Personal information provided during enrollment will be kept confidential and only used for the purpose of managing lessons and payments.
7.2 Media Release
By enrolling in our studio, you agree to allow us to photograph or record lessons for promotional purposes, including social media. If you do not consent, please notify us in writing.
8. Liability and Insurance
8.1 Liability
Ka Law Piano Tuition is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or damages that may occur before, during, or after the lessons. Students and parents/guardians are responsible for their personal safety.
8.2 Insurance
It is advised that students have appropriate insurance to cover any potential accidents or injuries during their lessons.
9. Termination of Agreement
9.1 Termination by the Studio
We reserve the right to terminate a student’s lessons if we believe there is a breach of these Terms and Conditions, including but not limited to persistent non-payment, disruptive behavior, or failure to attend lessons without valid reason.
9.2 Termination by the Student
Students may terminate lessons with 2 weeks notice. Any outstanding fees or unpaid balances must be settled before the termination is effective.
10. Miscellaneous
10.1 Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be communicated to you in writing, and continued enrollment will constitute acceptance of any updated terms.
